ALL OUR ITEMS ARE 100% GENUINE - WE CARRY NO REPRODUCTIONS. Pattern Water Set (Complete: 1 pitcher, 6 tumblers) Blue. 9 1/8 high x 7 1/8. No visible markings; the pattern and form is well-documented.Offered is an early American Fenton Carnival Glass cobalt blue 7 piece water set in the scarce and desirable Fentonia pattern, highly iridized with a satin finish of deep purples, greens, yellows and golds. A celestial fantasy, the Fentonia pattern fills a field of central diamonds with alternating occurrences of woven constellations and scales; collectors sometimes refer to the radiating star constellation as embroidery stitch or hobnails. The mouth of the pitcher is a decorative scalloped sawtooth, complimenting the quilted and patterned body, with a large smooth upwards spout. The tumblers have a smooth rim. Colour: The intricacies and nuances of Carnival Glass colours are many. The photographs have been taken with a white balanced camera using AIC standards in colour calibration on a calibrated monitor to display the subtlety of the shade as accurately as possible. A period piece, it is offered in very good vintage condition. For accuracies sake only there are two miniscule fleabites, one on the pitcher at the very bottom of the diamond and the other on the lip of a single tumbler.
Also there is a manufacturing wave on the lip of another tumbler. The colour is brilliant, the pattern crisp, and the presentation wonderful. CHECK OUT OUR OTHER LISTINGS FOR MORE ANTIQUES & DECORATIVE ART.It is essential for items to be described and represented as accurately as possible, especially in an online medium, plus for all terms, conditions, and costs to be indicated clearly in each listing. Any white, bright marks are reflections or flash marks are not flaws but a result of the photo process which can be difficult with highly reflective items. Also, we recommend if you have any further questions to contact your own professional advisor prior to the sale. All items are antique (or vintage) and therefore will always show signs of wear; this is described to the best of our ability and as close to all actual shapes, sizes, colours, functions, and maker attributions. We are not professional conservators/researchers and use the best materials and techniques we can to measure and rate any and all attributes. Descriptions are offered as instructive guides to help you determine the properties of the offering and get a feel for the object; not as scientific analysis. Descriptive colour names are a matter of personal perception, and vary from computer monitor to computer monitor; we follow AIC standards and use colour calibrated equipment the best we can but are not professional photographers. Measurements can be taken in many ways and from many different parts of an item; any measurements offered are given as guides and may vary depending on where they are taken, especially when items are hand-crafted and not perfectly symmetrical. Attributions of age, form, maker, country of origin, school, artist, provenance, etc. Are opinions of our beliefs. Documentation is provided when possible, but not always, due to time and other constraints. Information is also evolving on many items we offer due to continued analysis by collectors, scholars, historians, and researchers therefore documentation should not be taken sacrosanct. We make every effort to accurately describe all items, but in the event that errors occur, we cannot be held responsible. Different objects have different inherent properties, for instance ceramics may have stilt marks, glaze pops, crazing, firing lines, mould lines, chips to the base from having a ground bottom (as a company/maker practice). We do our best to mention these even when from production and authentic to the piece when made but cannot be exhaustive with expected phenomena; our focus is on actual flaws or damage that have occurred outside any natural processes of production or aging, such as chips, scratches, repairs etc that are from a later date.
The same for glass (bubbles etc), furniture (expected patterns of wear) and all other mediums all items are antique (vintage) except when noted and will show this, it is part of their appeal. We do our best to make sure the amount stated is as close as possible to the expected actual amount for anywhere in Continental North America.
